Tennis

Tennis is a racquet sport played between either two players (singles) or two teams of two players each (doubles). The game is played on a rectangular court divided by a net, with players using a racquet to hit a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over the net into the opponent’s side of the court. The objective is to score points by making the ball land in the designated areas of the court such that the opponent is unable to return it.

The sport is typically played on various surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts, each affecting the speed and style of play. Scoring in tennis involves a unique system where points are counted as 15, 30, 40, and game, with players needing to win a certain number of games and sets to win a match. Tennis is governed by rules set forth by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is a prominent sport globally, featuring prestigious tournaments like the Grand Slam events: the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
